What is CHRIS? The Comprehensive Human Resources Integrated System (CHRIS) is the automated tool used by Human Resource (HR) professionals in GSA, and its client agencies, to document your employment (i.e., changes in your salary, position or benefits), which in turn creates a comprehensive employment history.
What is CHRIS Personal View?
CHRIS Personal View is designed to provide you with secure and easy web-based, online, “real time” access to your own personal electronic employment information, as well as print copies of Notifications of Personnel Actions (SF-50). Through CHRIS Personal View you have direct access to your personnel records and won’t need to request copies of SF-50s through your servicing Human Resource Office. In addition, anytime an SF-50 has been entered into CHRIS you will receive email notification letting you know it has been added to your electronic personnel folder.
What features are available through CHRIS Personal View?
The following features are currently available to users of the CHRIS Personal View:
View Personal data such as education, veterans status, service computation date; Assignment information such as position data, probation periods, career conversion and retained grade data; Pay and Benefits information such as Salary, retirement coverage, life and health benefits and TSP; Leave information such as leave category and balances; Performance ratings; Awards history and Personnel Action Information history and individual Notifications of Personnel Actions (SF-50s).
Print either your individual Notifications of Personnel Actions (SF-50), award history, performance history, benefits record, position assignment record or personal data record.
How do I log on to CHRIS Personal View?
To log on to CHRIS Personal View you will need a User ID and Password. Detailed instructions on accessing your CHRIS Personal View are available at CHRIS HELP.
What if I don't have a CHRIS User-Id and Password? If you do not have a CHRIS User-ID and Password, detailed instructions on generating your CHRIS User-ID and creating your own unique password are available in the New User Registration/Reset Password user guide.

Who do I contact if I'm having problems using the New User Registration/Reset Password functionality in CHRIS?
Send an email to the CPC.personnel@gsa.gov with the following information:
Your name.
A description of the problem.
The steps you took prior to having the problem.
The text of any error or informational message you received.
For GSA OIG employees and GSA client agency employees, please contact your servicing Human Resources (HR) office for guidance.
Who is responsible for updating my employment records?
Your servicing Human Resources (HR) office is responsible for entering, updating and correcting your employment data.
What if I find errors in my electronic records? If you find incorrect or missing data in your CHRIS Personal View electronic record, please contact your servicing Human Resources (HR) office.
How do I find out the date of my next WGI? From CHRIS Personal View click on the Assignment tab and the date appears next to the “Within Grade Increase Due Date” field. Within Grade Increases (WGI) are not automatic and are only granted based on a successful performance rating.
Where do I find information on my Personnel Actions (SF-50's)?
Your individual Notifications of Personnel Action (SF-50) may be viewed by clicking on the Personnel Action tab in CHRIS Personal View. All of your personnel actions are listed in effective date order with the most recent action appearing at the top of the list. To view a personnel action, click on the three-digit Nature of Action Code (NOAC) in the First Action column. This will open the SF-50 in Adobe. To print the SF-50, click on the printer icon in the Adobe menu bar.
How do I print documents from CHRIS Personal View?
To print the information that you see displayed on each of the tabs, click on the printer icon at the top of the screen, to the right of the words CHRIS PERSONAL View.
To view and print a copy of a Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50):
Click on the Personnel Action folder tab.
Choose the action you want to view, and click on the underlined blue number in the first column on the left. This will open up a copy of the SF-50, using Adobe Reader software.
To print a copy of the SF-50, click on the printer icon at the top of the screen (the 2nd icon from the left). It will print both the front and the back of the form.
Why can't I print from CHRIS Personal View? If you attempt to print an SF-50 through CHRIS Self-Service views and are running Adobe Acrobat version 6.0 you may encounter the following error message.
Could not start print job.
To resolve the print problem a Web Browser Option within Adobe Reader 7.0 must be displayed. To do so, please follow the following steps:
Launch Adobe Reader 7.0
From the toolbar, select "Edit" and click on "Preferences"
Select "Internet option" from the left hand side within the "Preferences" dialog screen.
Uncheck "Display PDF in browser" option.
To save settings click OK and exit out of Adobe Reader 7.0.
If modifying the "Display PDF in browser" option does not resolve the problem then a setting within Internet Explorer may be causing the problem. Within Internet Explorer, located within the "Advanced" tab under "Internet Options", you will find a setting called "Do not save encrypted pages to disk." If this setting is enabled, it will attempt to create a temporary file that it may not have sufficient permission to carry out.
To disable the option:
Launch Internet Explorer.
From the toolbar, select "Tools" and click on "Internet Options".
Click on the "Advanced" Tab and scroll down until you find the section on "Security".
If the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" setting is check, then disable the option by unchecking the box.
To save settings click "Apply" and then click "OK".
If modifying these two settings does not resolve the problem, then contact your Network Administrator. For more questions, please contact the CHRIS Helpdesk by sending a email message to gsa.chris@gsa.gov.
