(Washington) - The Commerce Department's Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) will co- sponsor a Business Executives' Enforcement Team (BEET) town hall meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on June 11, 1998 to discuss ways of helping company executives improve self-policing of export controls and of strengthening cooperation between the exporting community and export control agencies, the agency announced. The program will be held in the Auditorium of the Georgia Power Building, 241 Ralph McGill Blvd. Registration begins at 5:30 pm and the program begins at 6:00 pm.
The BEET program, cosponsored by the Atlanta Women in International Trade (WIIT), will feature senior officials from the government's export control agencies. More than 4000 business representatives have participated in BEET's.
"Recent regulatory changes make it imperative that senior managers understand their responsibility for adhering to U.S. export control laws," said F. Amanda DeBusk, assistant secretary for Export Enforcement. "BEET town hall meetings are one of the best ways for company executives to learn of these changes and discuss the impact of these rules on their businesses."
Government participants will include senior officials from Commerce's Bureau of Export Administration's Export Enforcement, Export Administration, the Office of the Chief Counsel and the Bureau of the Census. Representatives from the U.S. government's export control community including the U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's Office and the Central Intelligence Agency will also participate.
