AES Broadcast 08/08/2003 Broadcast # 2003042
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please note that as of August 15, 2003 the U.S. Census Bureau, along
with partnership agencies, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Bureau
of Industry and Security, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
will no longer accept letters of intent(LOI)for the AES Post-Departure
Filing Program known as AES Option 4. AES Option 4 grants USPPI's
or exporters the privilege of filing their commodity data up to 10
working days after the date of export. The acceptance of LOIs is
being suspended due to upcoming changes in the regulations.
Any AES Option 4 LOI postmarked or facsimile time stamped after
August 15th will not be reviewed for the AES Option 4 filing privilege.
Option 4 LOIs received prior to the deadline will still be reviewed
by the partnership agencies. Companies interested in Option 4 after
the August 15th deadline, will be able to submit an Option 4 LOI once
the new regulations for Mandatory AES are released in mid-2004. If you
are now an active AES Option 4 filer, this change will NOT affect you.
