Automated Foreign Trade Zone Reporting Program
(AFTZRP)

The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has approved direct electronic reporting to the U.S. Census Bureau (Census Bureau) of statistical data on goods admitted into a Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ). The AFTZRP is currently the only approved means of such reporting.

The Foreign Trade Division (FTD) of the Census Bureau has developed a standardized reporting format for use by companies furnishing statistical data on merchandise admitted into a foreign trade zone.

Companies electing to submit statistical data directly to the Census Bureau transmit data via the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Internet System. The FTP Internet System is a reliable way of submitting statistical data directly to the Census Bureau. The Network Associates' Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software is an encryption package that is used with a FTP capable computer and the Internet as the mode of transmitting data. The FTP combined with the PGP software package provides a secure means of transmitting data. The FTD will provide the PGP software free of charge to companies who apply for the AFTZRP and prepare a test file. Another advantage of this program is that data is submitted directly to the Census Bureau without delay. Notification of the transmission will be automatically generated and sent to the Census Bureau staff via e-mail.

Notify the Data Collection Coordination Branch via on-line authorization application, e-mail, fax, or U.S. Mail about your interest in reporting monthly 214A statistical data by FTP.
