Skiing
On the eastern shore of Lake Ontario lies a plateau that boasts the heaviest snow fall east of The Rockies. Several ski trails are located within the boundaries of DEC managed state forests. On this page, you will find the links to these fine cross-country trails as well as down-hill ski center of Belleayre Mountain in the Catskills on the eastern part of the state.
The department operates the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center located in the heart of the Catskill Forest Preserve near Highmount, NY.
Belleayre provides downhill and cross-country skiing opportunities.
For information about Belleayre, visit its web site at http://www.belleayre.com/, or call Belleayre Mountain Ski Center at (845) 254-5600.
