Terrestrial Invasive Species Eradication Grant Program: Application and Instructions (pdf, 1.2 Mb)

Program Summary

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will provide State assistance funding through reimbursement for projects to eradicate terrestrial species identified as being invasive within the boundaries of New York State. Acceptable projects are proposals to kill and/or permanently remove plants or animals that meet the definition of terrestrial invasive species. A list of species is included in the grant application and instructions booklet.

Program Funding

$1,000,000 is currently available for grants under this program. Grant funds are provided by the State Environmental Protection Fund. An applicant may request no less than $2,500 or exceed the maximum request amount of $100,000.

Match Requirement

All grants require non-federal matching funds of 50%. In other words, Applicants must match grant funding on a 1:1 basis, one applicant dollar for every State dollar requested.

Program Eligibility Requirements/Restrictions

The applicant must be a New York State agency, municipality or a not-for-profit corporation. Projects must occur within the boundaries of the State of New York. Proposals for projects already receiving assistance for similar activities from the EPF or other NYS assistance programs are ineligible for funding under this RFA.

Applications must be postmarked no later than October 31, 2008. Applications may not be filed electronically or by fax.
