Here's an Opportunity to Help Your Community!

Want to be a leader in your community? Whatever your background, as a census taker you can help your community where it really counts!

The census count not only determines your community's representation in Congress, state legislatures, and local government—it's also used in distributing about $300 billion annually in federal funding of public programs in:

  • education,
  • community healthcare,
  • public transportation,
  • housing, and
  • community development.

State and local governments also use the information in funding their services.

As a census taker, your work makes a big difference

Census takers work to ensure that everyone is counted. You work approximately 20 to 40 hours per week. The hours are flexible. Your work can last several weeks, right in your own community. You get good pay, and it's paid every week.

On top of that, you get to meet and interact with friends and neighbors in your own community.

Bilingual speakers are especially needed!

All census takers must be able to speak English, but people who have bilingual skills are needed in communities where a large number of residents primarily speak a language other than English. If you have the appropriate language skills and cultural knowledge to communicate well in your community, we encourage you to apply.

Help your community and earn extra income for yourself!
