Veterans' Issues

America's veterans, reservists and National Guard members may be entitled to certain workplace rights and preferences.

DOL's Veterans' Employment and Training Service administers and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), which prohibits all employers from discriminating against an individual based on his or her status as a past or present member of the unformed services.

In addition, DOL's Employment Standards Administration's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs promotes equal opportunity in hiring and employment decisions for qualified disabled veterans, Vietnam era veterans, recently separated veterans and veterans who served on active duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized.

Use the resources on this page to learn more about veterans' employment issues. Please note that elaws Advisors have not yet been built for every DOL law and regulation. Therefore, your issue may also be covered under laws not addressed by this Web site.
