Ohio and Kentucky Immigration Court

Case Files Moving to New Sites July 1, 2003

The administrative control of Immigration Court case files, including Records of Proceedings (ROPs), for Ohio and Kentucky will transfer to new locations, effective July 1, 2003.  This transfer will not affect case hearing locations -- hearings will continue to be held in Ohio and Kentucky as in the past.  Attorneys and pro se respondents with current cases in these courts are being individually notified of this change.

Specifically, the Detroit Immigration Court will no longer create and maintain case files for Ohio cases (Cincinnati and Cleveland) or Kentucky cases (Louisville).  As of July 1, 2003, Ohio case files will be created and maintained at the Arlington Immigration Court, and Kentucky case files will be created and maintained at the Memphis Immigration Court.

Due to this change, cases in Ohio will be heard by an Immigration Judge from the Arlington Immigration Court.  Cases in Kentucky will be heard by an Immigration Judge from the Memphis Immigration Court.  Unless otherwise notified, hearings will continue to be conducted at the same locations in each state, with Immigration Judges traveling to the Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Louisville hearing locations or by Video Teleconferencing when appropriate.

It is important to note that after June 30, 2003, case filings for Kentucky should be mailed to:
