ITE ITS Standards Training Course
This series of four one-day courses provides both a broad overview of ITS standards and focuses on the use of ITS standards in deploying three particular types of ITS technologies. Each course is designed to be taken individually; however, the overview course is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for the other courses.

  • ITS Standards Overview - intended for transportation professionals and policy makers involved in ITS deployment
  • Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) - introduction to the use of the NTCIP standard for dynamic message signs and other NTCIP standards, for deployers and designers of traffic control and management systems
  • Center to Center (C2C) - introduction to the use of application profile standards to exchange data among ITS centers. Also includes an introduction to the Traffic Management Data Dictionary, Incident Management, and Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) standards.

Introduction to Systems Engineering for Advanced Transportation
This National Highway Institute (NHI) classroom course is an introduction to systems engineering for intelligent transportation system (ITS) project managers and project staff. It provides a high-level view of a broad and rich topic area, introducing basic system engineering concepts in the context of ITS projects.

Cost: Refer to website.

Introduction to Systems Engineering (Blended Course)
This Consortium for ITS Training and Education (CITE) blended course is an introduction to systems engineering for ITS project managers and project staff. It provides a high-level view of a broad and rich topic area, introducing basic concepts to individuals who are working on ITS projects. A "blended course" is a web course that features occasional instructor interaction.

Cost: Refer to website.

Advanced Systems Engineering for Advanced Transportation Projects (Web course)
This CITE course is intended to cover a broad set of topics in system engineering and system integration. It will provide participants with an appreciation of the principles of systems engineering and its application to ITS projects. It will also introduce participants to the techniques of systems integration associated with regional systems. Regional integration introduces the need for a more detailed understanding of the principles of systems engineering, particularly those associated with the benefits of alternative architectures, and the necessity to consider the principles of system reliability, maintainability and availability.
