Federal Highway Administration: Office of Planning
This Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) office provides information on various issues and programs related to transportation planning for our local, rural, metropolitan, state, tribal, other federal partners, and interested citizens.
Federal Highway Administration: Office of Operations
This FHWA office provides national leadership for the management and operation of the surface transportation system. Operations consists of three program offices: Transportation Management, Freight Management and Operations and Transportation Operations, and is supported by the Operations Support Team.
Federal Transit Administration
The Federal Transit Administration administers federal funding to support a variety of locally planned, constructed, and operated public transportation systems throughout the U.S., including buses, subways, light rail, commuter rail, streetcars, monorail, passenger ferry boats, inclined railways, and people movers.
ITS Joint Program Office
The national Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program aims to use advanced technology to improve the efficiency and safety of our Nation's surface transportation system, addresses both information- and infrastructure-based approaches to achieving its goals.
Planning Capacity Building Program (FHWA/FTA)
An ITS/Joint Program Office (JPO) website provides one-stop access to training, education, and technical resources for ITS success.
Grants.gov – Helping You to Succeed
Fulfilling the President's Management Agenda to simplify the grants management process, Grants.gov is one of 24 Federal cross-agency E-government initiatives designed to improve access to services via the internet. Grants.gov enables grant-making agencies and the grant community to come together to make grants management easier and more efficient for everyone. Led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with Federal grant-makers including 26 agencies, 11 commissions and several states, Grants.gov is the one website for information on all Federal grant opportunities.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is an international organization that leads in advocating public transportation innovation through information sharing to the bus, rapid transit, commuter rail, planning, design, construction, finance, and operations communities.
AMPO
The Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO) is a non-profit organization established in 1994 providing technical assistance and training, conferences and workshops, information outreach, research, and a transportation policy development and coalition-building forum, to metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) nationwide.
AASHTO
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) represents the highway and national transportation departments (including District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) by providing programs and services to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.
NARC
The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) serves the interests of regional councils and MPOs nationwide as a non-profit organization by providing training and technical assistance that advocates regional coordination with federal and state governments and the involvement of regional communities to work towards achieving excellence in their region.
National ITS Architecture
The National ITS Architecture provides a common framework for planning, defining, and integrating intelligent transportation systems. It is a mature product that reflects the contributions of a broad cross-section of the ITS community (transportation practitioners, systems engineers, system developers, technology specialists, consultants, etc.).
NTOC
The National Transportation Operations Coalition (NTOC) serves as an important foundation for institutionalizing management and operations into the transportation industry. This alliance of national associations, practitioners and private sector groups represent the collective interests of stakeholders at state, local and regional levels who have a wide range of experience in operations, planning, and public safety.
PTI
Public Technology, Inc. (PTI) is a national non-profit technology research and development organization offering a variety of technology products and services to assist local governments and their leaders in addressing their technology needs.
ITE
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international educational and scientific association of traffic engineers, transportation planners, and other professionals engaged in forums to develop standards and recommended practices, informational reports, handbooks, conferences, sessions for meetings, seminars, issue briefings, award programs, ITE position statements, and newsletters.
TRB
The Transportation Research Board of the National Academies (TRB) serves all modes and aspects of transportation by promoting technical innovation and progress through research programs, peer reviews, policy analysis and by serving as an independent adviser to the Federal government and others on scientific and technical questions of national importance.
