- Converting 95% of fuel use to ultra low sulfur diesel,
- Governing tractor speed to 68 mph,
- Testing low viscosity lubricants, and
- Testing filtration equipment promoted as extending oil change frequency from 15,000 to 100,000+ miles.
“The SmartWay Transport Partnership Program offers Morgan Southern validation of the approach/philosophy they have been following in recent years, to continually improve their operational efficiencies. The ideas and technologies available in today’s business arena offer significant improvements to lower cost of operation. When one factors in the world political dynamics, environmental impacts and a finite quantity of petroleum in the ground, these decisions and practices move away from just being “good business” and into being the “wise and proper” things to do. SmartWay describes what the key components are — summarizes how these components should be measured and promote new evolving technologies to help us get there. Our participation in SmartWay will help us maintain our focus and commitment to the principles of smart business and good environmental stewardship.”
