ANTITRUST DIVISION NAMES NEW CHIEF OF STAFF

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Justice today announced the appointment of Adam Golodner as Chief of Staff and Counselor to Joel I. Klein, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division.

Golodner replaces Michael Powell who joined the Federal Communications Commission in October as a Commissioner.

As Chief of Staff, Golodner will counsel the AAG on policy matters, help the Division enforce the antitrust laws in the new economy, as well as work to ensure that the Division operates effectively.

"Mr. Golodner brings a wealth of diverse experience with him to the Division. His talents and expertise will assist substantially in ensuring that American markets remain free and open and that American consumers are protected from anticompetitive actions," said Joel I. Klein, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division. "He has a proven record of getting things done."

Golodner is the former Deputy Administrator of the Rural Service Department for the Department of Agriculture. He has also served as a member of Vice President Gore's National Information Infrastructure (NII) Task Force, and as a member of the Communications Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). Prior to beginning government service in 1993, he was a partner at the Denver law firm of Moye, Giles, O'Keefe, Vermeire and Gorrell.

Golodner earned his J.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1985 where he served as an Articles Editor of the Law Review, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
