JUSTICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES IT WON'T CHALLENGE
AMERICAN AIRLINES/TWA ACQUISITION

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department's Antitrust Division today announced that it would not challenge the proposed acquisition by American Airlines of Trans World Airlines. The Division's decision came after a comprehensive investigation that included consideration of TWA's bankrupt condition.
