A one-count information was filed in U.S. District
Court in Boston, Massachusetts, charging Empire
Antiques Corporation (Empire) of Salem, Massachusetts
and Paul A. C. Burke, Jr., owner and president of
Empire, with collusive bidding, in violation of
Section 1 of the Sherman Act, for the purchase of
antiques at public auctions in Massachusetts and New
Hampshire, beginning at least as early as May 1988
and continuing until at least July 1989.

Inc.; Broadlawns Medical Center; Des Moines General
Hospital Company; Iowa Lutheran Hospital; Iowa
Methodist Medical Center; and Mercy Hospital Medical
Center, Des Moines,

Civil No.: 4-92-70648 (S.D. Iowa)
A civil complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in
Des Moines, Iowa, charging the Hospital Association
of Greater Des Moines and five of its member
hospitals with entering into agreements, in violation
of Section 1 of the Sherman Act, to restrict
advertising of hospital services. The five hospitals
operate general, acute-care facilities in Des Moines,
Iowa. The parties also filed a proposed consent
decree that, if accepted by the court, will settle
the suit.

A one-count information was filed in U.S. District Court
in New York, New York, charging 812 Broadway Enterprises,
Inc. of New York, New York and Maurice Margules, part
owner and vice president of 812 Broadway Enterprises,
Inc., with collusive bidding, in violation of Section 1
of the Sherman Act, for the purchase of antiques at a
public auction that was conducted by Gustave J. S. White
& Co. on September 30 and October 1, 1987 at Harbour
Court, Newport, Rhode Island.

9/24/92 | U.S. v. F. Lewis Steenken, III; Thomas W. Copelin; Jack E.
Stiffler; Frank W. Blew; Donald R. Phillips; and
Northwest Chapter of the Arkansas Society of Professional
Surveyors
Criminal No.: CR92-50031-(1-6) (W.D. Ark.)
A two-count indictment was filed in U.S. District Court
in Fort Smith, Arkansas, charging five individual land
surveyors and the Northwest Chapter of the Arkansas
Society of Professional Surveyors with one count of price
fixing, in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act,
involving the minimum price of lot and block surveys in
the Arkansas counties of Benton, Washington, Madison,
Carroll, Boone, Newton, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson and
Pope. Count Two charged F. Lewis Steenken with mail
fraud (18 U.S.C. §1341) in connection with a letter he
sent to all area surveyors confirming their agreement to
raise and fix prices for lot and block surveys. |
