NOTE TO EDITORS AND REPORTERS

WASHINGTON, D.C. A comment by Assistant Attorney General Joel I. Klein, that was made yesterday during a speech at the American Bar Association's Section of Antitrust Law, was quoted inaccurately in today's Wall Street Journal. The comment Klein actually made is as follows:

"I want to thank the ABA for taking a courageous stand last year when it opposed reductions in the Antitrust Division's budget that were sought by a party in one of our major cases. If Americans are to have confidence in our legal system, the laws must apply to everyone, and politics can have no place in the enforcement of the antitrust laws."
