Upcoming Activities


May 17-20, 2005: Legal Technical Forum, Bangkok. This exchange was designed for senior level export control officials and provided an overview of Legal Framework for an export control system.

May 10, 2005: BIS conducted an U.S.-Singapore Briefing on Export Controls in Washington, D.C. to better coordinate nonproliferation efforts. Several implementation proposals were made to achieve this goal. Discussions were also made on the theoretical basis of dual use controls, the export licensing process, the role of investigations and international export enforcement cooperation, and government outreach programs to industry.

October 2004: BIS conducted a National Control list Workshop for the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C. The workshop provided an overview of the basic elements of European Union numbering system for dual-use goods.

September 2004: BIS hosted a Senior Policy Exchange with Singapore in Washington, D.C. This workshop focused on the four major elements of an effective export control system: Legal, Licensing, Enforcement, and Industry-Government Relations.

July 14-16, 2004: BIS engaged Panamanian authorities in an U.S.-Panama Legal Forum in Panama City. The object of the meeting was to review the Panamanian legal authorities and make an assessment on the gaps that exist in Panama’s legal structure.

July 12-15, 2004: BIS will host the U.S.-Thailand Legal Technical Forum I in Bangkok, Thailand. This activity will mark the start of the EXBS expert-level bi-lateral export control cooperative program with Thailand.

July 19-22, 2004: BIS will host a delegation from the UAE in Washington, D.C. to participate in the EXBS Licensing Procedures and Practices Workshop I.
