Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. The New Mexico report is scheduled for release on Sept. 29. Previously released reports are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
American Housing Survey: 2007 — How many homes across the country have fireplaces? How many have dishwashers or smoke detectors? How many have bars on the windows? This household survey asks questions about the quality of housing in the United States. (Scheduled for release Oct. 1.)
Small Area Health Insurance Estimates: 2005 — Contains estimates of health insurance coverage for all counties and states. Data are provided by age, sex and income at the county level and, in addition to these characteristics, by race and Hispanic origin at the state level. The estimates are based on models combining data from a variety of sources including the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey, Census 2000, administrative records and population estimates. (Scheduled for release Oct. 9.)
Economic
Consolidated Federal Funds Report: 2007 and Federal Aid to States for Fiscal Year 2007 — These two reports provide an overview of federal spending at the national, state and county levels. The data are obtained from federal agencies and describe spending for procurement contracts, salaries and wages, direct payments, loans and insurance, as well as federal grants to state and local governments. (Scheduled for release Oct. 2.)
2008 Capital Spending Report: U.S. Capital Spending Patterns, 1999-2006 — A look at capital expenditure patterns reveals data about firms with and without employees, expenditures for structures and equipment, and expenditures for major industry sectors. The data comes from the Annual Capital Expenditures Survey. (Scheduled for release Oct. 7.)
2007 State and Local Government Employees and Payroll — These figures about the nation’s 89,526 state and local governments will be the first comprehensive data from the 2007 Census of Governments. Local governments include counties, cities, townships, special districts and school districts. (Scheduled for release Oct. 22.)
Facts for Features
Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) — Dig in to this feast of economic and demographic statistics pertaining to the menu of culinary delights consumed on Turkey Day. (Scheduled for release Sept. 29.)
American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month (November) — Presidents have signed proclamations to honor the nation’s 4.5 million American Indian and Alaska Natives each year at this time. This group is younger and has larger families than the national population. (Tentatively scheduled for release in mid-October.)
Veterans Day (Nov. 11) — Parades and speeches across the country, as well as a national ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, highlight this federal holiday. Some of the statistics from this day include the number of veterans in the country, their racial and ethnic backgrounds, and the number who vote. (Tentatively scheduled for release in mid-October.)

Profile America and Al Día (Spanish) — Profile America is a daily, 60-second feature that uses interesting vignettes from key events, observances or commemorations for that day to highlight information collected by the Census Bureau. Upcoming segments include “Model T’s 100th,” a look at Henry Ford’s automotive creation (Oct. 1), and “Spinning Tops, Yo-Yos,” in anticipation of International Top Spinning Day (Oct. 7). American Community Survey
2007 American Community Survey Characteristics Data — Sept. 23 — At least one-in-five residents of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas spoke Spanish at home in 2007. The annual release of American Community Survey data about the social, economic and housing characteristics of the nation’s population cover topics ranging from language to education, from family size to work commute. Data are available for more than 7,000 areas, including all congressional districts as well as counties, cities, metro areas and American Indian and Alaska Native areas of 65,000 population or more.

Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — Sept. 23 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. Montana’s report is the latest release. Previously released reports are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
School Enrollment in the United States: 2006 — Sept. 17 — Enrollment in colleges and universities reached 20.5 million in 2006, up 3 million since 2000. However, there were fewer students in nursery school, kindergarten and elementary school than in 2000. This report is based on data collected in 2006 from the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey.

Census Data and Emergency Preparedness — Sept. 12 — Millions from Alabama to Texas could feel the effects of Hurricane Ike.
