Geographical Mobility: 2007 — Data tables show the moving patterns of people in the United States, the differences in the extent and types of movements, the characteristics of movers, regional migration patterns and the reasons people move. Data come from the Current Population Survey. (Scheduled for release Sept. 4.)
School Enrollment: 2006 — Are more students attending college? What region of the country has the most high school dropouts? This report on school enrollment levels and trends in the population 3 and older is based on data collected in 2006 from the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey. (Tentatively scheduled for release in late September.)
Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. The Montana and Oregon reports are expected to be released in late September or early October. Previously released reports are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
Economic
2008 Capital Spending Report: U.S. Capital Spending Patterns, 1999-2006 — A look at capital expenditure patterns from 1999 to 2006 reveals data about firms with and without employees, expenditures for structures and equipment, and expenditures for major industry sectors. The data comes from the Annual Capital Expenditures Survey. (Tentatively scheduled for release in late September.)
Facts for Features
Halloween (Oct. 31) — This spookiest of nights, featuring the young and young-at-heart disguising themselves as ghosts, goblins and other outlandish characters, is the subject of a collection of Census Bureau statistics from demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release Sept. 3.)

Profile America and Al Día (Spanish) — Profile America is a daily, 60-second feature that uses interesting vignettes from key events, observances or commemorations for that day to highlight information collected by the Census Bureau. Upcoming segments include “Gentlemen, Start Your Mowers!” dealing with the lawnmower-racing craze (Aug. 31), and “Hispanic Heritage Month,” the time when we recognize the culture and traditions of those who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the nations of Central America (Sept. 14). Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — Aug. 28 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. South Carolina’s report is the latest release. Income, Poverty, Health Insurance Coverage and American Community Survey: 2007 — Aug. 26 — Real median household income in the United States climbed to $50,233, the nation’s official poverty rate was 12.5 percent, and the number of people without health insurance coverage declined from 47 million (15.8 percent) to 45.7 million (15.3 percent). State and County Housing Unit Estimates: July 1, 2007 — Aug. 21 — The number of Nevada’s housing units grew by 3.5 percent from 2006 to 2007, the largest growth in the nation. Tabulations update estimates of the nation’s housing stock at the national, state and county levels for 2007. Fertility of American Women: 2006 — Aug. 18 — This report shows that 20 percent of women 40 to 44 were childless in 2006, twice as high as the level 30 years earlier. For the first time, this report on fertility patterns of American women uses American Community Survey data and provides state-by-state comparisons of fertility characteristics. Census Data and Emergency Preparedness — Aug. 18 — Based on the projected path of Tropical Storm Fay, the U.S. Census Bureau calculated that more than 10.8 million people could feel the storm’s effects as it moves over the Florida Keys and into southwestern Florida. As the 2008 hurricane season progresses, the Census Bureau will continue to post information on its Hurricane Data and Emergency Preparedness Web page.
