County Population Estimates by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2007 — How diverse is your county? County-level population estimates tabulated by these demographic characteristics will provide the answer. (Scheduled for media embargo Aug. 5, with public release Aug. 7.)
School Enrollment: 2006 — In 2006, more students were in college and high school and fewer in nursery, kindergarten and elementary school compared with 2000. High school dropouts constituted 11 percent of the population 18 to 24. States with the highest concentration of dropouts were predominantly along the entire southern border of the United States. These are among the highlights of this report, which discusses school enrollment levels and trends in the population 3 and older. The report is based on data collected in 2006 from the American Community Survey and the Current Population Survey. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 10.)
National Population Projections: 2008-2050 — What will our nation look like demographically at midcentury? Annual projections of the U.S. population, by age, race and Hispanic origin through 2050, will reveal the answer. (Scheduled for media embargo Aug. 12, with public release Aug. 14.)
State and County Housing Unit Estimates: July 1, 2007 — Pinal County, Ariz., part of the Phoenix metro area, had the highest growth rate of housing units of any county in the nation last year. Updated estimates of the nation’s housing stock at the national, state and county levels for 2007 will show whether this pattern continues. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 17.)
Income, Poverty, Health Insurance Coverage and American Community Survey: 2007 — On Aug. 26, the Census Bureau will hold a news conference to release the consolidated report on 2007 income, poverty and health insurance coverage for the nation, based on the Current Population Survey. American Community Survey income and poverty tabulations pertaining to states and areas with 65,000 or more residents will be released simultaneously on the Internet. (Scheduled for release on Aug. 26.)
Fertility of American Women: 2006 — The first Census Bureau report on fertility patterns of American women to use data from the American Community Survey, making it the first to include state-by-state comparisons of fertility characteristics. Data from the Current Population Survey are also included, permitting historical comparisons. (Tentatively scheduled for release in mid-August.)
Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. Oklahoma’s report is scheduled for release in early August. Previously released reports are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
Facts for Features
Model T Centennial — To commemorate the introduction of the car widely considered to be the most influential of the 20th century, the Census Bureau presents a collection of statistics examining the auto industry, new car sales and the prevalence of automobiles now and a century ago. (Scheduled for release on Aug. 7.)
Halloween (Oct. 31) — This spookiest of nights, featuring the young and young-at-heart disguising themselves as ghosts, goblins and other outlandish characters, is the subject of a collection of Census Bureau statistics from demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 31.)

Families and Living Arrangements: 2007 — July 28 — The latest look at our nation’s married-couple and single-parent families, stay-at-home mothers and fathers, people who live alone, children who live with grandparents and more. This data from the Current Population Survey includes a breakdown by age, race and ethnic origin, as well as personal earnings and dependence on public assistance. USA Counties — July 17 — Newly updated information has been added to this Web page, which contains more than 6,000 data items at the national, state and county levels. Some of the new items include the 2007 population estimates, building permits data, 2006 earnings and employment data, social security income data and 2006 physicians data. Nonemployer Statistics: 2006 — July 31 — The report provides data for the U.S., and by state, metro area and county on the number of establishments and sales or receipts of businesses without paid employees that are subject to federal income tax.
