Estimates of U.S. and State Population by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2007 — Are there more women than men in America? How old are they? What are their races and ethnicities? National- and state-level population estimates answer these questions and more about our demographic characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early May).
Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. New Jersey’s report is set for April 20, and Maryland is scheduled for May 4. Previously released reports on Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Vermont and Wisconsin are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
States in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Primary Snapshot — A look at the population, selected characteristics and 2004 voting percentage of states as they approach their 2008 primaries. Pennsylvania’s profile will be released on April 16, and Indiana and North Carolina on April 30. Previous releases are available at <http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/population/index.html>.
Support Providers: 2005 — These tables look at those who provide support to people living in other households and how much. The data include selected characteristics about support providers, such as their marital status, employment status, education level and race. Although providers are often associated with child support, the category also includes those who pay support for people not living in the same household, such as parents or relatives. The data for these tables come from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early May.)
Economic
Consolidated Federal Funds Report: 2006 — This annual data set provides an overview of federal spending at the national, state and county levels. The data are obtained from federal government agencies and describe spending for procurement contracts, salaries and wages, direct payments, loans and insurance. (Scheduled for release on April 23.)
Net Worth and the Assets of Households: 2002 — Income and net worth are two important factors in determining economic well-being in the United States. This report looks at net worth and asset ownership by various socioeconomic factors, including monthly income. The data come from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Tentatively set for release in late April.)
Facts for Features
Father's Day (June 15) — The Census Bureau honors “dear old dad” with a collection of statistical information from its demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Father’s Day. (Scheduled for release April 17).
The Fourth of July — Happy birthday, America! The Census Bureau celebrates the 232nd anniversary of our nation’s independence with a collection of statistics on flags, fireworks and food. (Schedule for release May 4.).
Conversion from Analog to Digital TV (Feb. 17, 2009) — Facts and figures from the Census Bureau’s statistical abstract relating to television programming and the conversion from analog to digital broadcasting. (Tentatively scheduled for release in April.)

2010 Census
Census Bureau Submits Questions to Congress — The questions on the 2010 Census will include name, age, gender, race, ethnicity, relationship and whether you own or rent your home. The submission also outlines the questions for the American Community Survey, including three new questions on health insurance coverage, marital history and military disability. Grand Openings for Regional Census Centers — The Census Bureau marked the two-year countdown to the 2010 Census with grand openings at its Detroit and Los Angeles regional census centers. The Detroit event was March 31, and the Los Angeles event was April 4.

Pollution Abatement Costs and Expenditures: 2005 — April 9 — This report shows detailed statistics on capital expenditures and operating costs for pollution prevention and pollution treatment for the manufacturing sector. These data are available by cost category (treatment/capture, prevention, disposal and recycling) and the media (air, water discharge and solid waste), both by state and industry. Public Education Finances: 2006 — April 1 — U.S. school districts spent an average of $9,138 per student in fiscal year 2006. This report offers a comprehensive look at school district revenues and expenditures.

New History Web Site — The Census Bureau has a new Internet site dedicated to the history of census taking in the United States since 1790. The site contains information about the decennial and economic censuses, surveys, the agency, innovations and notable Census Bureau alumni. Additional links allow visitors to browse decade-by-decade historical facts and pop culture items related to the censuses, including photographs, publications and historical documents.
