State Population Estimates: July 1, 2007 — Arizona was the nation’s fastest-growing state in 2006, breaking Nevada’s long-standing grip on the title. Internet tables will show July 1, 2007, population estimates and components of change for the nation, states and Puerto Rico. (Scheduled for release on December 28.)
New Year’s Day Population — The Census Bureau rings in the new year with its annual projection of the nation’s population for Jan. 1, 2008. The release will include birth, death and net international migration rates. (Tentatively scheduled for release in late December.)
What It’s Worth: Field of Training and Economic Status: 2004 — We’ve seen the data showing that more education usually equals a higher salary. But what fields of study have the greater payoff? This series of tables from the Survey of Income and Program Participation examines the relationship between field of training and monthly earnings.
(Tentatively scheduled for release in late December.)
Educational Attainment in the United States: 2007 — Internet tables detailing education levels by age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, marital status, nativity, occupation and other demographic characteristics at the national level. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early January.)
Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates (SAIPE): 2005 — These tables provide estimates of income and poverty for states and counties, as well as estimates of poverty and population for school districts, median household income and poverty rates of various age groups. SAIPE provides annual updates for the administration of federal programs and the allocation of federal funds to local jurisdictions. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early January.)
Living Arrangements of Children: 2004 — Examines the diversity of children’s living arrangements, from living with two biological parents to living in blended families. These national-level data come from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early January.)
Who’s Minding the Kids? Child Care Arrangements: Spring 2005 -- Tables provide data on child care arrangements of preschoolers and gradeschoolers cross-tabulated by various demographic characteristics of the mother. They also profile children who care for themselves on a regular basis and examine the size of weekly child care payments made by selected characteristics of the family. (Tentatively scheduled for release in mid January.)
Census Atlas of the United States — This hardbound 300-page book contains more than 700 maps and figures organized to increase understanding of population and housing characteristics from 1790 to 2000. It is the first comprehensive statistical atlas of population and housing produced by the Census Bureau since the 1920s. To order, go to <http://bookstore.gpo.gov/>.

2006 Service Annual Survey: Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services — This sector covers industries in accounting, tax preparation, management consulting, computer system design, and other professional, scientific and technical services. Find out how much revenue American businesses made on tax preparation services. (Tentatively scheduled for release on Dec. 27).
Facts for Features
50th Daytona 500 — NASCAR’s 500-mile stock-car race that began in 1959 at Daytona International Speedway has evolved into a worldwide phenomenon. A global TV audience of more than 50 million is expected to watch the Feb. 17 race, with the winner pocketing about $1.5 million. To commemorate this automotive milestone, the Census Bureau has compiled a collection of facts and figures relating to our nation, Florida and Daytona Beach during the past 50 years. (Scheduled for release on Dec. 21 and early February.)
St. Patrick’s Day and Irish-American Heritage Month (March) — The Census Bureau joins the annual celebration of all things Irish by providing this statistical information from its demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early January and late February.)
Women’s History Month (March) — In commemoration of this annual observance highlighting the contributions of women, this edition provides statistical information on topics such as earnings, educational attainment, business ownership, careers, military service and marriage. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early January and late February.)
Editor’s note: Facts for Features are customarily released about two months before an observance in order to accommodate magazine production timelines.

2006 State Government Finances — Dec. 21 — Comprehensive financial statistics for all 50 state governments (includes all agencies, institutions, commissions and public authorities that operate separately or somewhat autonomously from the central government). Contains detailed data for each state on revenue by type (such as taxes and federal aid), expenditures by function (such as public welfare and education), indebtedness, and cash and security holdings. 2006 Service Annual Survey: Rental and Leasing Services — Dec. 17 — Rental and leasing services includes data on passenger car rental, videotape and disc rental, and other consumer goods rental. 2007 Economic Census for the Island Areas — Dec. 17 — 2007 Economic Census forms are currently being mailed to businesses in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, underscoring the importance of their participation in the most comprehensive measure of business and industry taken every five years.
