Historical Census Statistics on Population Totals by Race, 1790 to 1990, and by Hispanic Origin, 1970 to 1990, for Large Cities and Other Urban Places in the United States — Contains tabulations illustrating how racial and ethnic composition has changed over the years in 306 cities across the nation. It provides data collected at each census up to 1990 from the time they became available for the city. (Scheduled for release on July 13.)

We the People: Blacks in the United States — A comprehensive demographic, social and economic portrait of the more than 36 million people who identified themselves as black or African-American in Census 2000. The special report also discusses differences between men and women within the black population at the national level. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

We the People: Pacific Islanders in the United States — A comprehensive demographic, social and economic portrait of the largest detailed Pacific Islander groups at the national level: Native Hawaiian, Samoan, Guamanian or Chamorro, Fijian, Tongan and Marshallese. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

 

Survey-Related

Facts for Features: Grandparents Day (Sept. 11) — Data from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject area highlighting the role of grandparents as caregivers to their grandchildren. (Scheduled for release on July 11.)

Facts for Features: Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15) — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to the nation’s Hispanic population. (Scheduled for release on July 15.)

Facts for Features: Unmarried and Single Americans Week (Sept. 18-24) — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject areas on the characteristics of unmarried and single Americans. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-July.)

Living Arrangements of Children: 2001 — National-level data on the 72.5 million children under age 18 who lived in households. Includes statistics on children who live with grandparents, in “blended” families, multi-generational households and with only one unmarried parent. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-July.)

2004 State and County Housing Unit Estimates — Updated estimates of the nation’s housing stock at the national, state and county levels for 2004. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid- to late-July.)

Areas with Concentrated Poverty: 1999 — A special Census 2000 report on demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of census tracts by levels of poverty. Data are provided for the nation, regions and states. (Tentatively scheduled for release in late-July.)

2002 Economic Census of Island Areas: Puerto Rico Manufacturing — Information on the number of businesses and employees, payroll, value of shipments and other information pertaining to the manufacturing sector of Puerto Rico’s economy. A construction report is scheduled for release later this year, and a geographic areas report will contain information for all other sectors of Puerto Rico’s economy covered in the 2002 Economic Census. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Preliminary Estimates of Business Ownership by Gender, Hispanic or Latino Origin, and Race: 2002 — These first tabulations from the Survey of Business Owners examine business ownership, number of firms and employees, receipts and payroll. Information is included for both businesses with paid employees and those without them. Some state-level statistics are present. A series of full reports will be issued on a flow basis over the next 18 months. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

2002 Economic Census: Geographic Area Series — Data for states, metropolitan areas, counties and cities — published by state and industry sector. Information on the number of establishments and employees; payroll; and sales and receipts or value of shipments. Released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/geosumm.htm>.

2003 County Business Patterns — Contains a variety of information on business in more than 1,100 industries for the nation, states and 3,271 counties. Includes data on the number of establishments and employees and quarterly and annual payroll. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid- to late-July.)
