Historical Census Statistics on Population Totals by Race, 1790 to 1990, and by Hispanic Origin, 1970 to 1990, for Large Cities and Other Urban Places in the United States — Contains tabulations illustrating how racial and ethnic composition has changed over the years in 306 cities across the nation. It provides data collected at each census up to 1990 from the time they became available for the city. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 3.)

 

Survey-Related

2004 Subcounty Population Estimates — Estimates of the population of the nation’s 19,465 incorporated places — cities, towns, villages and boroughs — as of July 1, 2004. Also included are population estimates for the nation’s minor civil divisions that have functioning governments. Rankings by extent of population growth are provided. (Scheduled for release on June 30.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection — In July, Census Bureau field representatives will begin visiting randomly selected households for the Current Population Survey’s update of employment data. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 26.)

Facts for Features: Labor Day — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject area pertaining to the nation’s labor force. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 3.)

Facts for Features: Grandparents Day — Data from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject area highlighting the role of grandparents as caregivers to their grandchildren. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 10.)

2004 State and County Housing Unit Estimates — Update of estimates of the nation’s housing stock at the national, state and county levels for 2004. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 10.)

Facts for Features: Hispanic Heritage Month — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to the nation’s Hispanic population. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 17.)

Facts for Features: Unmarried and Single Americans Week — Statistics from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject areas on the characteristics of unmarried and single Americans. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 17.)

2002 Economic Census: Geographic Area Series — Data for states, metropolitan areas, counties and cities — published by state and industry sector. Information on the number of establishments and employees; payroll; and sales and receipts or value of shipments. Released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/geosumm.htm>.

Survey-Related

Information and Communication Technology Expenditures (ICT): 2003 — First-ever estimates of spending by companies on ICT equipment, ranging from computer software to hearing aids. For computer software, the data cover purchases and payroll for developing software and software licensing and service/maintenance agreements. For other ICT equipment, the data cover purchases and operating leases and rental payments. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of June 26.)

2003 County Business Patterns — Contains a variety of information on business in more than 1,100 industries for the nation, states and 3,271 counties. Includes data on the number of establishments and employees and quarterly and annual payroll. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-late July.)

Alternative Income Estimates in the United States: 2003 and Alternative Poverty Estimates in the United States: 2003 — 6/23/05 — Two reports based on data from the 2004 Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey. They present alternative measures that take into account the effect of taxes and food stamps and other noncash benefits on income. These measures are intended to provide a more complete measure of economic well-being than the official income and poverty concepts, which are based solely on the amount of money people or households receive during the calendar year.
