America’s Changing, and So Is the Census — In late December, the American Community Survey (ACS), a large monthly survey that produces census long form-like data annually instead of every 10 years, will be expanded to every county in the nation. The ACS will replace the long form in the 2010 Census. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Dec. 26.) |

New Year’s Day Population: 2005 — Estimated U.S. population as of Jan. 1, 2005. (Scheduled for release Dec. 28.) Facts for Features: Women’s History Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject areas on women, who we celebrate in March. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 2.) Facts for Features: St. Patrick’s Day and Irish-American Heritage Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to St. Patrick’s Day 2005 and Americans of Irish ancestry. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 2.) The Foreign-Born Population in the United States: 2004 — National-level tabulations on this population group by characteristics such as citizenship status, age, year of entry, poverty status and world region of birth. Includes first-ever tabulations on nativity by generation. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 9.) Local Employment Dynamics: A Profile of Older Workers — These reports focus on older workers by industry, their age, job gains and losses, the industries in which they are concentrated, job stability and earnings. (The reports for Colorado and Pennsylvania are tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 9.) |

Commodity Flow
Survey (CFS) — Part of the 2002 Economic Census, with individual
reports for each state and a U.S. summary report. These reports show data
on the movement of goods by value, weight, average miles per shipment, mode
of transportation and type of commodity shipped. A separate report contains
CFS data on hazardous material shipments by hazard class, mode of transportation,
states of origin and other characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release
the week of Jan. 2.)
2002 Economic Census: Geographic Area Series — Data for states, metropolitan areas, counties and cities — published by state and industry sector. Information on the number of establishments; employees; payroll; sales and receipts; or value of shipments. Released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/geosumm.htm>. 2002 Economic Census: Industry Series — Industry reports (e.g., the manufacture of aircraft, ice cream, jewelry) from the 2002 Economic Census. National-level information on number of employees; payroll; sales and receipts; or value of shipments. Reports have been published for more than 500 industries, with fewer than 100 reports remaining to be released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/INDSUMM.HTM>. |
