Voting Age Population: 2000 — Internet tables show the number of people age 18 and over by race, ethnicity, gender and citizenship status for the nation and the states. Also, voting age population, gender and citizenship for the nation’s counties. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 1.)

Non-Census

Mini Historical Statistics — Series of 55 tables with historical statistics on demographic and economic topics such as population, education, immigration, crime, energy supply, stock prices and federal government receipts. Many of the tables contain data going back to 1900. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 25.)

Next Wave of Interviewing in Survey of Income and Program Participation — In February, interviewers will visit a national sample of randomly selected households to ask about program participation, health insurance coverage, employment, income and other topics. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 25.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection — During the weeks of Feb. 15, March 14 and April 18, Census Bureau field representatives will visit randomly selected households in the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey’s monthly update of employment data. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 1.)

Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2003 — Latest edition of the national data book, a perennial government best seller, first published in 1878. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 1.)

Children and the Households They Live In: 2000 — Social and economic characteristics of the nation’s 72 million children. Summary data for the nation, states and some large cities range from children living in their grandparents’ household to those living with foreign-born householders. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 1.)

Facts for Features: Valentine’s Day — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Valentine’s Day 2004. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 1.)

International Brief: Global Population at a Glance: 2002 and Beyond — This look ahead (to 2050) at worldwide population trends summarizes two reports being released simultaneously, Global Population Profile: 2002 and The AIDS Pandemic in the 21st Century. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 8.)

These Old Houses: 2001 — National and regional information on housing units built 82 or more years ago; characteristics of these units compared with units built after 1989. Data are from the 2001 American Housing Survey’s national sample. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 8.)

Facts for Features: Women’s History Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject areas on women, who we celebrate in March. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 15.)

Facts for Features: St. Patrick’s Day and Irish-American Heritage Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to
St. Patrick’s Day 2004 and Americans of Irish ancestry. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 15.)

Economic

Annual Capital Expenditures: 2002 — This report shows capital investment spending for 130 industry categories, including buildings and other structures, machinery and equipment, furniture, computers and vehicles. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 25.)

2002 Service Annual Survey: Truck Transportation, Couriers and Messengers, and Warehousing and Storage Sector — Data on general freight trucking, couriers and local messengers, warehousing and storage, size and origin of shipment, and commodities handled. (Tentatively scheduled for released the week of Feb. 8. )

2002 Service Annual Survey — Data on four industry groups: Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (including performing arts, spectator sports, museums, amusements parks and gambling); Administrative Support and Waste Management (including travel and reservation services, security, employment and business support services); Other (including automotive repair shops, personal care and laundry services); and Rental and Leasing (including automotive equipment and leasing, consumer goods rental, commercial machinery and equipment rental). (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 8.)

2002 Service Annual Survey: Information Sector — Data on software publishers, motion picture and sound recording, broadcasting and telecommunications, and information services and data processing services. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 15.)

2002 Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey — State reports on light and heavy trucks, minivans and sports utility vehicles, issued on a flow basis and culminating in a U.S. summary in mid-2004. Information on fuel efficiency, annual mileage, model year, primary range of operation, permanent equipment and other physical and operational characteristics. (Tentatively schedule for release the week of Feb. 15.)

Radio

Profile America for February — A special edition on Black History Month is now available on CD and as downloadable Internet audio files. This CD is produced each year in addition to the regular Profile America and its Spanish-language companion, Al Día. This year, the Black History Month CD features 29 African-Americans (one for each day of the month) who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the American experience. Transcripts and audio files can be found on the Web at <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/radio/bhfeb.html>.

The regularly scheduled February editions of Profile America and Al Día will be available online at <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/radio/paindex.html>. (Tentatively scheduled for release on Jan. 30.)

Featured Photo of the Month — To recall and celebrate the positive contributions to society by people of African descent, American historian Carter Woodson established Black History Week on Feb. 12, 1926. Check out our newest feature photo celebrating African-American History Month. Go to <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/photos/monthphoto.html> for a downloadable and publication-ready illustration. (Tentatively scheduled for release on Jan. 30.)

Multimedia

African-American History Month: 50 Years of Change — The multimedia Web page supports news stories keyed to the celebration of African-American History Month. Visitors can access and order audio from a special-edition, commemorative CD. Downloadable digital media also include high-resolution stock photos with data references embedded in the captions. Streaming video will provide an opportunity to review a video news release on African-American History Month. A series of links will take visitors to additional Census Bureau data tables, briefs and reports. Beginning Feb. 2, visit the Census Bureau's homepage at <http://www.census.gov> and look for the “African-American History Month” icon. (Tentatively scheduled for release Feb. 2.)

Television

African-American History Month: 50 Years of Change — This video news release marks the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling by analyzing the changes in educational attainment and income for African-Americans since that landmark decision.
