Census 2000 Special EEO Tabulation (FTP, CD-ROM and Internet) — Census 2000 tables on the number of people employed in more than 400 occupations that show the work flows from residence to work site. Data are summarized for counties, metropolitan areas and places with populations of 50,000 or more. Data also provided by race, Hispanic origin, gender, education, age, industry and earnings. (Scheduled for release on Dec. 29.)

PHC-5, Characteristics of American Indians and Alaska Natives by Tribe and Language: 2000 — A two-volume report containing data such as language, family and household size, education, income, vehicles available and value of home. These data are shown for the United States, regions, divisions, states and selected metropolitan areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Dec. 28.)


Non-Census

Data Collection in January for Quarterly Consumer Expenditure Survey — In January, Census Bureau interviewers will contact a national sample of randomly selected household in a survey that measures what Americans spend on groceries, clothing, health care and housing. (Scheduled for release on Dec. 29.)

New Year’s Day Population Total — The January 1, 2004, population total for the United States, along with the number of births, deaths and immigrants. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Dec. 28.)

Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2003 — Latest edition of the national data book, a perennial government best-seller, first published in 1878. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 4.)

Facts for Features (Special Edition): The 2004 Presidential Election — Data on turnout and trends from presidential elections in preparation for the 2004 presidential election season. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 4.)

Dynamics of Economic Well-Being: Program Participation, Who Gets Assistance? 1996-1999 — Focuses on participation levels and participant characteristics in six means-tested, public assistance programs immediately before and after federal welfare reform was enacted. National-level data only. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 4.)

Children and the Households They Live In: 2000 — Social and economic characteristics of the nation’s 72 million children. Summary data for the nation, states and some large cities range from children living in their grandparents’ household to those living with foreign-born householders. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 11.)

Mini Historical Statistics — Series of 55 tables with historical statistics on demographic and economic topics such as population, education, immigration, crime, energy supply, stock prices and federal government receipts. Many of the tables contain data going back to 1900. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 11.)

International Brief: Global Population at a Glance: 2002 and Beyond — This look ahead (to 2050) at worldwide population trends summarizes two reports being released simultaneously: Global Population Profile: 2002 and The AIDS Pandemic in the 21st Century. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 11.)

Facts for Features: Martin Luther King Jr. Day and National African American History Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s subject areas about the African-American community. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 11 and Jan. 18.)


Economic

2002 Service Annual Survey: Truck Transportation, Couriers and Messengers, and Warehousing and Storage Sector — Data on general freight trucking, couriers and local messengers, warehousing and storage, size and origin of shipments, and commodities handled. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 18.)

2002 Service Annual Survey — Data on four industry groups: Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (including performing arts, spectator sports, museums, amusement parks and gambling); Administrative Support and Waste Management (including travel and reservation services, security, employment and business support services); Other (including automotive repair shops, personal care and laundry services); and Rental and Leasing (including automotive equipment and leasing, consumer goods rental, commercial machinery and equipment rental). (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 18.)

2002 Vehicle Inventory and Use Survey — State reports on light and heavy trucks, minivans and sports utility vehicles, issued on a flow basis and culminating in a U.S. summary in mid-2004. Information on fuel efficiency, annual mileage, model year, primary range of operation, permanent equipment and other physical and operational characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 18.)

Profile America for January — Segments include “Pop Music Chart” (Jan. 5) and “Clean-Off- Your-Desk Day” (Jan. 12). Featured Photo of the Month — The first manned flight in America occurred in 1793. A Frenchman named Jean-Pierre Blanchard, accompanied by a little black dog, flew in a hot-air balloon from Philadelphia to New Jersey, reaching an altitude of about 6,000 feet. Go to <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/bcasthome.html> and click on “Featured Photo of the Month” for a downloadable and publication-ready illustration of hot-air ballooning. (Scheduled for release Dec. 24.)
