Census-Related

Census 2000 Summary File 4 (SF4) -- A total of 323 summary tables of social, economic and housing characteristics for up to 336 population groups. To be released by state through September. (Scheduled for release on July 16: Kansas, Kentucky, Nevada and Oklahoma; on July 23: Alabama, Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio and on July 30: District of Columbia, Rhode Island and U.S. summary national file.)

Gross Migration Summary: 2000 -- Counts of people 5 years old and over, nonmovers and movers by geographic area.(Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 27.)

Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) Files (5 Percent) -- State files, released on a flow basis, provide a 5 percent sample of complete Census 2000 long-form questionnaires (without names or addresses) for Public Use Microdata Sample Areas (metropolitan areas, large cities and large counties or groups of smaller counties) that meet a minimum population threshold of 100,000. To protect confidentiality, some characteristic information for smaller areas will be less detailed than in the PUMS 1 percent files. The population threshold allows for comparability with PUMS files from 1980 and 1990. (First states tentatively scheduled for release week of July 27.)


Non-Census

Facts for Features: Americans with Disabilities -- Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic subject areas about people with disabilities, released in connection with the 1 3th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Similar Facts for Features commemorate other events and holidays through the year. (Scheduled for release on July 14.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection -- On Aug. 17, Census Bureau field representatives will begin visiting randomly selected households in the Current Population Survey's monthly update of employment and biannual update of veterans data. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 13.)

2002 State and County Housing Unit Estimates --First update since Census 2000 of the nation's housing supply at the national, state and county levels. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 13.)

Supplemental Security Income and Its Noninstitutional Recipients: July 1997 and 1999 -- Information about who receives SSI benefits, how much they receive and the demographic characteristics of recipients. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 20.)

2002 Population Estimates of U.S. Island Areas -- First population estimates since Census 2000 for American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 20.)

Estimates of State Populations by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2002 -- Population estimates for states by these demographic characteristics. First such estimates at the state level since Census 2000. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of July 27.)

Facts for Features: Back to School -- Statistics from the Census Bureau's demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to teachers, students and the reopening of schools. Similar Facts for Features commemorate other events or holidays through the year. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of August 3.)

Moving to America - Moving to Homeownership: 1994-2002 -- Data on homeownership by citizenship, race and ethnicity, region of birth and year of entry into the United States, from 1994 to 2002. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of August 3.)

Radio

The Profile America CD for August 2003 is in distribution. This series of 60-second features, one for each day of the month, is heard on more than 500 stations across the country, and around the world on Armed Forces Radio. Each feature is keyed to an event whose anniversary or observance is celebrated on the air date. August's "Profile America" includes the invention of the sewing machine, Spoil Your Dog Day, state fairs and the world's longest softball game.

Audio and text features for July are still available online at the address below, including Be Nice to New Jersey Week, National Ice Cream Day and the anniversary of the creation of Medicare.
