Ian M. Grossman

Ian Grossman is the Associate Administrator for Public Affairs for the Federal Highway Administration. He was previously the Director of Communications for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation where he developed a cohesive communications program for the Agency and its many safety activities. During his time at FMCSA, Ian led the Agency's national launch of the U.S.-Mexico truck demonstration program.

Prior to his arrival at the Agency, Ian was the Director of Communications for the Vermont Department of Transportation, where he directed legislative and media affairs at a time when the state was facing significant decisions regarding its aging infrastructure and critical revenue considerations. Prior to that, he served as the Campaign Manager for Governor Jim Douglas' (VT) successful 2004 reelection and with the Vermont Department of Taxes where he created a pro-active integrated marketing strategy for the implementation of a controversial property tax law.

Before his work in the public sector, he provided marketing consulting for professional service companies and was one of the founders of an international communications agency that became the industry leader in providing public relations to the nation's largest law firms.

During his time in the private sector, he advised many of the most prominent law firms, companies and organizations in the world and helped clients own their markets by consistently providing strategic advice. He placed stories in nearly every major media outlet including the most prominent, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and CNN, as well as in dozens of key business trade publications.
