Commerce Secretary
Evans, Energy Secretary Abraham and the United States Energy Association
to Host The United States/Russia Commercial Energy Summit
Secretary
of Commerce Don Evans, Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, and the
United States Energy Association will be hosting the United States/Russia
Commercial Energy Summit in Houston, Texas in early October. The summit
will be an open dialogue between U.S. and Russia energy and commerce
officials and energy industry leaders regarding energy policy and
the role of potential partnerships for international energy development
and its economic impact. In their meeting in Russia last May, President
Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a new energy dialogue
between the countries. The Summit will provide a venue to advance
policies that will embrace cooperation and success in the U.S./Russian
commercial energy relationship. It will also provide opportunities
for U.S. and Russian energy companies to explore potential partnerships.
Keynote speeches will be given by Secretary Evans, Secretary Abraham,
Minister Gref, Minister Yusufov and the Honorable James A. Baker III.
