SECRETARY EVANS STATEMENT ON HOUSE PASSAGE OF TRADE PROMOTION AUTHORITY

I am extremely pleased that the House of Representatives has voted to grant President Bush Trade Promotion Authority. The House has taken action on one of the most basic and effective ways to strengthen our economic security and advance the President's economic agenda.

The Senate should not miss this opportunity to enhance confidence in our economy. I urge the Senate to pass Trade Promotion Authority before adjourning for August recess.
