Statement by Secretary of Commerce Don Evans Following Meeting with Travel and Tourism Industry Leaders

Washington, DC - "This administration is committed to eliminating terrorists and bringing back tourists. This morning was a great chance to listen. We will continue to monitor our economy and take necessary action when appropriate.

Workers, entrepreneurs, employers, and labor representatives are the pride of our economy. Today's meeting was a constructive part of that on-going dialogue.

I have great confidence in the safety of our travel system. The President and Congress have already taken important steps to ensure the safety of those who travel, and will continue to do so. We must defy those who seek to destroy our freedoms."
