Operation HELP - DOC Fund Created for Families of Commerce Victims of September 11th

Washington, DC - Our Commerce Department family suffered a great tragedy when two of our colleagues, Marion Britton and Waleska Martinez, from the Bureau of the Census office in New York were lost aboard one of the planes that was hijacked on September 11.

In an effort to meet the needs of the victims' families, the Department has established a fund with the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA), a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. FEEA will administer the Commerce Employees Fund for the purpose of assisting with the financial needs of these families and other appropriate memorial activities.

During the months of September and October, the Department will conduct a campaign, "Operation Help," to inform all employees and to encourage contributions to the Fund. FEEA will attempt to accommodate all earmarked contributions. However, all disbursements from the Fund must be made to assist with the financial needs of these families and other appropriate memorial activities

This is a call to the entire Commerce Department family to assist the families of our fallen colleagues.
