GSA Awards Contract Training OpportunitiesGSA Awards Contract Training Opportunities GSA #10225 March 29, 2006 Washington, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced today the award of contracts to three firms to teach courses on federal contracting. GSA conducted this acquisition for the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI), a federal body that fosters and promotes the development of a professional federal acquisition workforce. This is the first major acquisition under the Acquisition Workforce Training Fund for training services from commercial vendors. The Fund was established by the Services Acquisition Reform Act (SARA) to provide the acquisition workforce with new skills and perspectives to contribute effectively in an ever-changing work environment. “Providing the right training represents a major step forward in the government’s ability to strategically manage our contracting workforce,” said Emily Murphy, GSA’s Chief Acquisition Officer. “GSA and FAI will continue to provide programs that help to align acquisition workforce initiatives across federal agencies and build the business skills we need.” The three recipients of the awards, which fall under GSA schedule contracts, are Business Management Research Associates, ESI International, Inc., and Management Concepts, Inc. Under the delivery orders, these three companies will provide more than 80 classes nationwide that are required for civilian agency contracting professionals. Classes will begin on April 3, 2006, and the orders include options for additional sessions in fiscal year 2007. The courses will be free-of-charge for individual participants. FAI coordinates contracting training with the Defense Acquisition University (DAU). “FAI is excited to begin launching these training opportunities,” said FAI Director Gloria Sochon. “We especially appreciate DAU’s support as FAI establishes its learning programs to bring civilian and defense trainings more in line with each other. Our partnership with DAU makes it possible for FAI to deliver improved training and tools to the civilian agency acquisition workforce.” The classes adhere to guidelines established by the White House Office of Federal Procurement Policy for training that are consistent with U.S. Department of Defense practice. Classes include: CON 100, Shaping Smart Business Arrangements, CON 202, Intermediate Contracting, CON 204, Intermediate Contract Pricing, CON 210, Government Contract Law Acquisition Planning I, Contract Formation I, Contract Administration I Negotiation Techniques, Price Analysis, Cost Analysis, Acquisition Planning II, Contract Formation II, and Contract Administration II. In this role, GSA acquires products and services on behalf of federal agencies; plays a key role in developing and implementing governmentwide policies; provides services and solutions for the office operations of more than one million federal workers; and encourages a citizen- centric relationship with government by providing a single "point of entry" to the information and services citizens need in a timeframe they can appreciate. This allows citizens to receive accurate, timely and consistent answers and information, and helps federal agencies better respond to citizen inquiries. Index of News Releases
