AmeriCares Sending Aid to Earthquake Victims in Pakistan Update

Survivors of a powerful earthquake that struck southwestern Pakistan, flattening mud-walled homes and triggering landslides.

AmeriCares is sending relief shipments to Pakistan to help survivors of a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that left at least 300 dead and more than 800 people injured. Damage and pollution of water systems and wells have caused an acute shortage of safe drinking water; and with it greater risk of disease outbreaks. Almost 90% of survivors have no access to safe drinking water in the areas hit hardest by the quake.

AmeriCares Helps Haiti Recover  
 

In response to the devastation caused by recent hurricanes and tropical storms, AmeriCares launched the latest phase of Haitian relief efforts with a massive airlift of medicines and medical supplies. AmeriCares aid expert Lisa Frantzen was recently in Haiti to work with our local partners to ensure the medicines and medical supplies arrived quickly and safely at hospitals and clinics throughout the country.

AmeriCares Continues Its Commitment to Deliver Aid to Darfur 
 

With the help of many generous supporters, AmeriCares delivered our 10th emergency airlift of critical medicines and medical supplies to Darfur earlier this year.  Since 2004, we have provided over 167 tons of humanitarian aid valued at nearly $5 million and our staff is currently working hard to secure our 11th airlift to help the Sudanese people displaced by the ongoing violence.
