Readme for Timeframe Wizard Version 1.1

This page provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the Help File for the Timeframe Wizard 1.1.

Upgrading from Version 1.0 to 1.1

To upgrade from Version 1.0 to Version 1.1 of the Timeframe Wizard:

  1. Do not uninstall Version 1.0 from your computer.
  2. Download zipped version of Wizard onto your desktop. The file is available on: http://www.environment.fhwa.dot.gov/wizard/wiz_download.asp
  3. The installation program will, by default, attempt to download the Wizard update to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Negotiated Timeframes Wizard. If Version 1.0 of the Wizard is located in this directory, click Next. If not, change the default folder to the folder where the Wizard is found. Then click Next.
  4. The following message will appear: The folder C:\Program Files\Negotiated Timeframes Wizard already exists. Would you like to install the folder anyway? Click Yes. Follow the remaining instructions to install the Wizard update.
  5. After you upgrade to Version 1.1, the Wizard will automatically convert your existing projects to Version 1.1 projects. After your project is converted:
    • A new timeframe for your EA or EIS that includes the SAFETEA-LU provisions will be generated and will overwrite the EA or EIS timeframe that existed prior to the project being converted. Your updated timeframe, whether an EA or EIS, will include steps that address SAFETEA-LU provisions. Here is a comparison of steps needed to complete an EA or EIS in Version 1.0 and 1.1.
    • All other project information, contact information, and timeframes for federal requirements will not change when the project is converted.
