GSA Appoints Donna D. Bennett as FSS Commissioner
August 3, 2000 WASHINGTON, DC - David J. Barram, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), announced today that Deputy Commissioner Donna D. Bennett will become Commissioner of GSA's Federal Supply Service (FSS) on September 4, 2000. Ms. Bennett replaces Frank Pugliese who will retire after 28 years of Federal service. "Donna has been a key member of GSA's senior management team," said Barram. "She has been a superb Deputy Commissioner and is well-prepared to take over the chief's job. Her innovative leadership is already evident throughout FSS. I have every confidence that she will put her own stamp on the proud tradition she helped create." Ms. Bennett, who has been Deputy since July 1994, began her civil service career as an economist with the Civil Aeronautics Board in 1969. She moved to GSA in 1983 to lead the governmentwide travel policy office. Among her many awards, Ms. Bennett has received the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service and GSA Administrator's awards for both meritorious and distinguished service. GSA's Federal Supply Service employs 3,400 people in the business of supplying more than $20 billion annually in goods and services to Federal departments and agencies worldwide. In addition to directing extensive procurement and distribution operations, FSS manages a worldwide fleet of 170,000 vehicles, travel and transportation services and the reutilization and sale of surplus personal property for military and civilian agencies. Ms. Bennett has a Bachelors Degree in economics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Maryland. Index of News Releases
