Division of Vascular Interventional Radiology, Georgetown University Medical Center

Mission statement:

Interventional radiology is that field of medicine that uses minimally invasive techniques and imaging guidance to perform procedures that can replace conventional surgery. The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Section at Georgetown University Medical Center provides the full range of interventional radiology care for patients, including diagnostic arteriography, renal and peripheral vascular interventions, biliary, gastrointestinal and genitourinary interventions, venous access procedures, embolization and regional cancer therapies. Our goal is to provide personalized patient care in a setting that meets the educational and research goals of an academic institution. Our five faculty members are experienced subspecialty-qualified interventional radiologists, each with a specific area of research interest. The section performs over 2000 patient examinations per year, and our staff includes 2 fellows, one resident, five technologists, five nurses and four administrative staff. Georgetown University Medical Center is a large tertiary care medical center located in Washington DC. It has nationally recognized research programs in cancer, cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and obstetrics and gynecology and has a full-time faculty of 420. Its Lombardi Cancer Center is world recognized in research, and treatment of cancer. This site is intended for use by patients, physicians and others with an interest in this field.
