Photo courtesy of photographer Webb ChappellAngela Lombardo, the coordinator of Children's Hospital Boston's Down Syndrome Program, and her son Isaiah have been involved in the Adaptive Dance Program since it started in 2002. At its beginning, there was only one class with 11 children. Today there are four classes and 40 children, who range in age from 7 to 18. The Adaptive Dance Program gives children with Down Syndrome an opportunity to explore the physical and creative aspects of dance while also learning social skills that will serve them in every other facet of their lives. Isaiah and the other children have grown along with the Program. "They support each other, cheer each other on, watch out for each other," says Lombardo. "It's like a little family in a way because they've been together for a long time."
