Cobb Emergency Management Agency (EMA)

The following information was sent from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency on September 23, 2008:


The current situation is highly variable but the consensus is that the supply problem is improving. Crude oil production in the impacted Gulf regions are still under 20 % of normal, but is improving. Numerous refineries that were off line are now restarting production. Pipelines are moving fuel from stockpiles, albeit at a reduced but ever increasing rate. Read More >>

Mission Statement:

The Cobb Emergency Management Agency will provide countywide emergency management program leadership, continuity, and direction to enable Cobb County and its partners to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impact of natural, manmade, or technological disasters upon its people or property.

What we do
  • Develop and maintain all local emergency Management programs, projects, and plans required by state and federal government.


  • Maintain the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for Cobb County and the Cities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, and Powder Springs


  • Provide 24-hour coordination of resources to emergencies and disasters


  • Provide 24-hour emergency coordination to multiple response agencies


  • Provide liaison with local, state and federal authorities during major emergencies and disasters


  • Develop, coordinate and conduct emergency management training/exercise programs


  • Develop and distribute emergency management presentations, brochures, pamphlets, public service announcements and other relevant information for civic organizations, businesses, and the public
