Government

Agriculture: Rural Utility Service
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, through the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program, provides grants and loans for telemedicine activities.
Health and Human Services: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with the states to administer Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards. CMS is also responsible for the administrative simplification standards from the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA).

Health and Human Services: Office of the Advancement of Telehealth

Maintains the Telehealth Funding Guide, a compendium of sources specifically focusing on telehealth and telemedicine, as well as "mainstream programs that might be interested in incorporating telehealth features."

Health and Human Services: Healthfinder

A gateway to reliable consumer health and human services information, Healthfinder provides links to selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, websites, and support and self-help groups, as well as to a variety of the government agencies and not-for-profit organizations.

National Library of Medicine

Various units within the National Library of Medicine fund telemedicine and related activities.


Meta Sites

California HealthCare Foundation's iHealth and Technology website
The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) regularly conducts research and commissions surveys and reports on emerging technology trends and related policy and regulatory issues. Reports are posted on their website. In addition, the CHCF also provides a free email service, iHealthBeat with summaries of and links to thousands of articles and information related to telemedicine and ehealth.
MedWeb Plus Telemedicine
An extensive collection of links to resources in telemedicine, virtual reality, and many other clinical sites.
Telemedicine Information Exchange (TIE)
TIE is a comprehensive, on-line source of information about telehealth and telemedicine. This resource includes searchable databases of almost 3,000 bibliographical references, active telemedicine projects, products and services, legal and ethical issues, meeting, and funding sources. This site is updated every two weeks.

American Telemedicine Association
A telemedicine professional membership organization.
Association of Telemedicine Service Providers
An industry service provider organization for institutions and corporations.
Center for Science in the Public Interest
A consumer organization which conducts research and advocacy programs in health and nutrition.
Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society is a national organization that provides leadership in healthcare for the management of technology, information and change through publications, educational opportunities and member services.


Universal Service

Federal Communications Commission
Contains information on support to schools, libraries, and rural health centers.
