DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Bioproducts and Biocatalysis Research Unit at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR), Peoria, Illinois.  The project will be to prepare and characterize a carbohydrate-based surfactant library of diverse C-glycoside compounds using ARS-developed green chemistry methods, and comparative imaging of micellular properties by diffusion-edited NMR spectroscopy.  The incumbent will use GC-MS, LC-MS, MALDI-MS, and NMR to characterize carbohydrates, in conjunction with isotopic labeling techniques.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Recent Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field is required.  Experience in mass spectrometry, NMR, and carbohydrate techniques is desirable.
