DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Plant Polymer Research Unit at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (Peoria, IL). The incumbent will conduct research on biobased materials for anti-corrosion applications and electroactive thin films. Responsibilities may include polymer synthesis, development of coating systems and physical, chemical and electrical characterization of polymeric materials. Incumbent will author manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and report research results at scientific meetings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field is required. Practical knowledge about polymers/plastics and electrochemistry are needed. Knowledge of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is highly desirable.
