POSITION:

Molecular Biologist

LOCATION:

Parlier, CA

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The position is located in the Crop Diseases, Pests and Genetics Research Unit at the San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center, Parlier, CA.  The incumbent will be responsible for molecular characterization of viruses infecting the glassy-winged sharpshooter (Homalodisca vitripennis). Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, construction and evaluation of full length infectious clones of RNA viruses infecting the glassy-winged sharpshooter.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Recent Ph.D. in virology, molecular biology, or related field is required.  Knowledge of insect virology and experience with propagation of viruses in tissue culture is required.  Experience with construction of full-length infectious clones to RNA viruses is desirable.
