POSITION:

Research Plant Pathologist

LOCATION:

Stuttgart, Arkansas

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The position is located at the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center in Stuttgart Arkansas.  The incumbent will be primarily responsible for map-based cloning of a Rhizoctonia solani phytotoxin sensitivity gene in rice, using an established mapping population and available marker technologies.  The incumbent will also participate as a team member working to identify the phytotoxin compound, the mode of action in-planta, and its contribution to pathogen virulence.  The ideal candidate will have exposure to all and expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: plant pathology, genetics and molecular biology.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in plant pathology, genetics, molecular biology or closely related field is required.  Specific knowledge of genetic linkage mapping, map-based cloning, or phytotoxins produced by necrotrophic fungi is desirable.
