POSITION:

 Research Entomologist

LOCATION:

Fairbanks, Alaska

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The Subarctic Agricultural Research Unit in Fairbanks, Alaska is seeking a Research Entomologist to conduct independent and cooperative research to develop IPM programs on crops of economic importance to Alaska including native medicinal plants. Goals of the Research Unit are to develop and integrate biological control and other biorational pest management tactics that will lead to the development of local and regional pest management systems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Entomology or closely related field of biological science is required.  Ability to develop IPM programs using sampling, biological control, and diagnostic methods and insect identification for the study of diseases of potato is desirable, as well as the ability to prepare reports and manuscripts for publication. Strong taxonomical skills needed, experience with aphis taxonomy will be an advantage.
