DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Mosquito and Fly Research Unit of the Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology in Gainesville, Florida. The incumbent will investigate behavioral and physiological responses of mosquitoes and sand flies to sublethal effects of pesticide and repellents. The incumbent would use behavioral assays, quantitative analysis of behavior, electrophysiology and/or molecular techniques to examine the consequences of exposure to toxicants.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: PhD. in Entomology or closely related field, such as Zoology, Biology, Public Health is required. Experience in preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication is essential. Knowledge of medical and veterinary entomology, ecology, insect behavior, electrophysiology, and toxicology are desirable.
