POSITION:

Research Molecular Bacteriologist

LOCATION:

Fort Pierce, FL

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The position is located in the Subtropical Plant Pathology Research Unit, Ft. Pierce, FL. The incumbent will conduct research on the culturing the fastidious bacteria that cause citrus Huanglongbing. Different approaches will be applied to explore the possibility of culturing the bacteria in vitro. Incumbent will be expected to design and develop different strategies and protocols, and perform specialized techniques such as aerobic and anaerobic culturing, DNA/RNA isolation, Real-time PCR, cloning, library construction and screening.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Microbiology or a closely related field is required. Knowledge and experience of genomics and bioinformatics, and skills in cloning, sequencing, and gene expression are desirable. The individual should be highly motivated and have demonstrated communication skills.
