Campaign Message: BE READY. BE BUCKLED.

The 2007 CMV driver safety belt usage study found that 65 percent of CMV drivers wear safety belts.

In accordance with Section 392.16 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), a CMV which has a seat belt assembly installed at the driver's seat shall not be driven unless the driver has properly restrained himself/herself with the seat belt assembly.

In 2003, the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Safety Belt Partnership was created by Secretary Norman Y. Mineta to combat low safety belt use among the nation's CMV drivers.
