Relocating I-195 in Providence

I-195 Relocation Logo The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is in the middle of a series of construction projects that will move the interchange of I-95/I-195 in Providence south.

When the project is complete, traffic leaving I-95 NB to enter I-195 EB will cross the Providence River on the Iway Signature Bridge, which will be located just south of the Providence Hurricane Barrier, across from Rhode Island Hospital.

Currently some ramps in the interchange enter roadways from the left. Once the projects are complete and the new roads, bridges and ramps are open, all ramps in the interchange will enter roadways from the right, in conformance with modern design standards. [More information]
